About us
Environment and Resilience Pitch (ER Pitch) is an assemblage of individuals comprising of undergraduates and postgraduates in Environmental Science of Department of Zoology and Environment Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. We share a common passion for studying the environment and disaster resilience. In the current context of growing environmental issues, unsustainable development, challenges faced by communities and impacts of climate change and natural disasters, we have understood the dire urgency of calling for timely awareness initiatives on global and national scales.
The ER Pitch is led by Prof. Deepthi Wickramasinghe.
The research in the group includes
–Environmental sustainability
–Biodiversity and Environmental conservation (with a special focus on the impacts of land-use changes, river sand mining, habitat description on the environment)
–Disaster risk reduction (with a special focus on impact assessment, disaster communications, nature-based solutions)
–Water and sanitation
